NATIONAL
MEET, SEPTEMBER 2010: TOWERKOP
The Cape Town Section will be hosting the National Meet
(Minicamp) in the Klein Swartberg from 18 to 25
September 2010. They envisage the event could include
the following activities: multi-day hikes, rock
climbing, sport climbing (Montagu (145km), Oudtshoorn
(135km) and Outback crag (50km)), day hikes, local site
seeing (e.g. Seweweekspoort Pass, wine cellars etc.).
A dinner to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the first
ascent of Towerkop by Gustaf Nefdt is to be held on
Saturday evening 25 September 2010 in Ladismith.
Cape Town Section will be sending out the formal
application forms early next year. If you are
considering attending, and in order to assist with
initial planning, please send an email to mcsacapetown@
iafrica.com with Towerkop 2010 in the subject line, let
them know what your preferred activity/ies would be as
well as your name and MCSA Section, so that you can be
included on their mailing list. They are looking forward
to arranging this event and welcoming members of the
MCSA from all over the country to join us in Ladismith
in September 2010. |

The Magaliesberg mountain range lies in
between the highveld savannah of the Witwatersrand and the African
bushveld, stretching roughly from past Rustenburg in the west, past
Pretoria to Bronkhorstspruit in the east. This mountain range is
almost 100 times older than Everest with interesting geology,
archaelogy, fauna and flora. The conservation of the Magaliesberg nature area
is important for the Magaliesberg Section.
